Pottery Party

Privacy policy

What we collect when you book or sign up, why, who helps us handle it, and how to see, change or delete it. In plain language.

Who we are

Pottery Party runs pop-up pottery workshops in Amsterdam cafés. We're responsible for the personal data described here. Pottery Party is run by Sterre Troquay, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 87463032.

Questions about your data? Email hello@potteryparty.nl.

What we collect and why

When you book a workshop: your name, email address, phone number, how many spots you booked, what you paid, any promo code you used, and anything you tell us in the "Anything we should know?" box. We use this to hold your spot, send your confirmation and a reminder, contact you if something changes, and handle cancellations and refunds. This is needed to deliver the workshop you booked.

If you tell us about dietary needs, allergies or accessibility, we only use that to look after you at the workshop, and only Sterre sees it.

Payments: card and iDEAL payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — we only receive a confirmation that you've paid.

If a payment doesn't go through: we keep your name, email, the workshop and the error your bank gave, plus your IP address (to spot abuse). We may send you one email offering help finishing your booking. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in helping customers who got stuck, and you can tell us not to.

Waitlists: your name and email, so we can tell you if a spot opens up.

Team-building enquiries: the contact and company details you send us, so we can reply with a proposal.

Emails we send you: we keep a record of which emails we've sent you, when, and whether they were delivered — so we know you got your booking confirmation and can answer questions about it. We don't track whether you open emails or click links in them.

News about new workshops

When you book, you can tick (or untick) "Email me about new workshops". If you leave it ticked, or if you ask to hear about new workshops when joining a waitlist, we'll occasionally email you about new dates and offers from Pottery Party. We record when and how you agreed.

Every one of these emails has an Unsubscribe link. One click and they stop — your booking emails will still reach you. You can also just reply and ask.

Who helps us handle your data

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We use a small number of services to run the site, each bound by a data processing agreement:

Supabase — our database and booking system.
Stripe — payments.
Resend — sends our emails.
Cloudflare — hosts the website.
Sentry — tells us when something on the site breaks. Error reports don't include your IP address.
Adobe Fonts — serves the fonts on our site; your browser connects to Adobe to load them.

Some of these companies are based in, or store data in, countries outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

Cookies and analytics

We count visits with Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool we host ourselves. It uses no cookies, doesn't follow you across other websites, and doesn't identify you personally — it tells us things like how many people looked at the events page. That's why there's no cookie banner.

How long we keep it

Bookings and payments: 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires us to keep financial records that long. After that we remove your name and contact details and keep only the amounts.
Failed payment attempts: 6 months, then deleted.
Waitlist sign-ups and team-building enquiries: 2 years, then deleted.
Records of emails we sent you: 2 years, then deleted.
Your agreement to receive news: for as long as you're subscribed, and the record of an unsubscribe for as long as we keep your email address, so we never email you again by mistake.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, send it to you in a portable format, or stop using it for a particular purpose. Email hello@potteryparty.nl and we'll respond within a month. Some booking records we're legally required to keep — if so, we'll tell you.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
